Intro

In order to have a real connection with our canine companions, and to be the best guardians we can be, we need to spend less time making them conform to our way of life and spend more time conforming to theirs.

Our canine companions live in the moment, they don’t fret about the past or worry about the future, they live in the here and now. They do not think like we do and they do not plan, they react to a situation based on how it makes them feel in that moment.

Dogs have the biggest heart per body mass of all living creatures and are very much heart centred. The heart feels whereas the brain thinks and our canine companions follow their hearts rather
than their minds.

Our canine companions are empaths, they feel what we are feeling, even our subconscious emotions. They feel our emotions so deeply that they absorb those emotions themselves.

It is important for our canine companions' well being that we manage our own emotions and do not project our own feelings onto them. This includes both our desires and fears.

Emotions are energy in motion and all energy needs to flow as stagnant energy leads to issues. Our canine companions need regular opportunities to safely display natural behaviours as this is how they express their emotions.

As guardians we frequently prevent our companions from displaying natural behaviours that allow them to safely express their emotions. We must remember that they are canines, not humans and allow them to behave as such.

If you truly love another being you accept them for who and what they are without wanting to change them but rather changing yourself in order to be worthy of their love.

Your canine companion wants nothing more than to align with you, heart to heart. It has been proven that the connection between a guardian and their canine companion can be equally as strong as it is between a parent and their child. If you have a real connection with your canine companion, you will be a team and flow as one.
